Who we are:

OWL is The Voice of Women 40+. We are the only national organization that focuses solely on issues affecting the nation’s estimated 78 million women over 40 – economic security, cost effective and comprehensive healthcare, and an enhanced quality of life.  OWL is committed to maintaining the nonpartisan, collaborative, pragmatic approach that has defined the organization since its founding in 1980.

How we use Status of Women in the States:

As we have in the past, we will promote the Status of Women in the States report’s findings to our demographic, now accounting for almost a quarter of the U.S. population. Our current initiative is entitled, “Our Women Mean Business: Encore Careers After 40”. One aspect of the initiative is a campaign to increase women’s access to venture capital funding. The goal is to raise the level of venture capital investment in women from seven to 20 percent by 2020. We also release an annual Mother’s Day Report and will use applicable data on Employment & Earnings as well as Work & Family within IWPR’s report to inform aspects of our own report.
