Report: Poverty Rate for Women in South Coast Cities is Double the State Average

The Institute for Women’s Policy Research and its “2015 Status of Women in the States: Poverty and Opportunity” report, has shed light on the struggles faced by each individual state.

Massachusetts as a whole fared better than the SouthCoast. It scored a B+ on indicators related to women’s poverty and opportunity, ranking third in the United States.

Others in the top five include the District of Columbia at No. 1, and the only one to receive an A-, followed by Maryland, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Hawaii.
