An end to the gender pay gap? Wait 40 years

A girl born today in Massachusetts will be 43 years old when the gender wage gap in the state is closed, a report released today by the Institute for Women’s Policy Research projected.

The report used US Census data beginning in 1960 to project the closing of the gender wage gap in each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia. In Massachusetts and nationally, the target was 2058.

In five states, the gender wage gap will not be closed until the next century, the report predicted. Wyoming had the furthest targeted closing year of 2159.
